Our management team discussed the pros and cons of being open on Labor Day recently and decided to go with reduced staffing and abbreviated hours this year. I was asked to pose the question as to which co-ops might close on Labor Day as a regular practice? Thanks.

I am the Front End Manager for The Willimantic Food Coop in Willimantic, CT. We have a volunteer program currently where many folks with disabilities work at the Coop for job training. Does anyone have experience in hiring folks with disabilities, examples of job descriptions, or any thoughts in general that may be helpful as we set this up for a talented candidate that we'd like to hire!

Greetings-- Does anyone have any input on commercial dishwashers? We have a large cafe and our dishwasher is in use 24/7, practically. As a consequence, our dishwasher has become quite a money pit and is on its last leg. Our kitchen manager and line staff supervisor let me know that in their combined 30 years of experience, it was very uncommon for a foodservice environment to own its very own dishwasher. Normally, these are leased and serviced by an outside company, such as EcoLab. I do not have restaurant background, so I can't speak to this. Read more »

In January we transitioned from an ISS 45 POS to the LOC SMS, a few things have been major upgrades but several headaches have yet to be cured.
Has anyone figured out how to show discounts (employee, senior, board, etc.) as negative and at the BOTTOM of the receipt? I am continually frustrated that my 3rd party provider cannot fix this or provide a clear explanation. Has anyone got it right?
We have found some good work around on the system, I'd hoped this discussion could have a longer life and address multiple issues with LOC SMS.
