Highly engaged with the Northeast Mpls. community, I acted as Assistant General Manager from founding (2003) to 2012 but with restructuring took on the more specialized role of HR Manager in 2013. As a founding staff person at Eastside Food Co-op I have worked closely with the General Manager and Board members to help grow the co-op into the successful community-minded anchor business it is today, with its impressive double digit sales growth since year one! Currently the co-op has over 4500 members and a staff of about 75 people.
In addition to my role in Finance, Payroll, HR and Marketing, I work to implement the ends set by the Co-op Board of Directors. I strengthen communities by coordinating educational programs, promoting sustainable agriculture, healthy/organic/local foods, fair trade, farmers markets, CSA's, and by making connections between residents, businesses, institutions, and organizations in Northeast and North Mpls. I spearhead a monthly round table discussion called the "Northeast Network."
I am the Editor of the Co-op's Newsletter and serve as a co-op liaison to the Mpls. public schools, working with Step Up. I also serve as Treasurer on the Board of the St. Anthony West Neighborhood Association (STAWNO). I am a founding member of the Northeast Investment Co-op (NEIC) formed to help grow the Northeast community focusing on distressed areas, using a triple bottom line model.
I graduated from the U of M with a bachelor's degree in Political Science.
I have a background in both nonprofit and private sector management, leadership experience, and a strong commitment to the principles of equality, ecological wisdom, social justice and peace.
