Job Summary:

National Cooperative Grocers Association (NCGA) serves member and associate retail grocery co-ops around the country. We are growing our fresh department services and looking for talented individuals to join our team as Retail Specialists, providing operational guidance and expertise to our co-op retailers. Responsibilities include planning and executing new store or department openings, training and mentoring department level managers, product promotions, financial monitoring and more. Candidates will have a strong background in one or more fresh department areas: deli/bakery, fresh meat/seafood or produce.

The positions will be located in NCGA's office in St. Paul, Minnesota, and will be primarily responsible for servicing the Upper Midwest, Great Lakes and Central Plains states. Some travel will be required.

Essential Qualifications:

  • 3+ years practical department level operations and management experience
  • Firm understanding of managing perishables inventory and vendor relationships
  • Ability to analyze and interpret sales and financial data
  • Strong computer, communication and listening skills
  • Goal and results driven
  • Strong commitment to customer service

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Culinary skills and understanding
  • Natural and organic foods experience
  • Multiple unit management experience

This posting is for a total of three positions. There will be one hire for each of the three individual departments: prepared foods and bakery; meat and seafood; produce.
