It is important to note that working at People’s requires the wearing of multiple hats.  Each full-time position has more than one job description, and committee/other group work is required to manage the business. Department buyers are responsible for selecting, pricing, and promoting designated products; meeting objectives for sales, margin, and inventory turns; and for maintaining good relations with vendors. Customer service:  Every co-manager is responsible for providing prompt, comprehensive and welcoming customer service. This position also includes in-store co-management as a member of our worker collective. As a collective, we manage our co-op prudently as a service to People’s member-owners, in line with the goals established by their elected stewards, the Board of Directors. In addition, the co-op and co-management are committed to fostering human rights and social and economic justice in our community and workplace.  Making a commitment to People’s co-management requires hard-work, dedication, high yet reasonable expectations, bravery, compassion, and flexibility.

The position currently being offered is 37 hours per week with some seasonal fluctuation.  This includes at least 2 hours per week of co-management.
