Weavers Way Store Manager     

Weavers Way Co-op is looking for an experienced, creative, and hardworking individual to serve as the Store Manager for our new third location opening in Ambler. This is an exciting time for us, and we are looking for someone that wants to grow with the organization.

This new store will be a full service grocery format featuring a large bulk department, full service meat and deli, and prepared foods department with seating. There will also be specialty departments like wellness and pet. We expect to have about 35-45 staffers.

As manager of the store, you’re integral to the entire operation. You know the ins and outs of operations, can find ways to improve on systems, and are always seeking ways to increase our margin. Staff can depend on you to manage, engage, and listen. You have good relationships with vendors. You’re in this role because you were looking for a challenge with a company full of dedicated staff that do awesome things. You have a strong believe in the mission of the co-op, and work with other stores and members of the team to achieve common goals.

Requirements:

The Store Manager is responsible for successful day-to-day operations of the store, financials, personnel, and overall morale. The management of inventory/product, and attention to maintaining a local competitive position is key. Development and training of staff is essential, as is a keen ability to manage, communicate, and motivate others. Knowledge of local, natural and organic foods is strongly preferred. Understanding of cooperative business practices and how they differ from regular business is highly desired. A clear understanding of food safety and government/health regulations is required.

This position requires focus on customer service as top priority. Customer requests/complaints are to be addressed quickly and effectively. Making it right is what counts. Previous experience with sales and strategic thinking is a must. The Store Manager must always be seeking ways to increase sales, bring in ethical, quality products, and new ways to market goods. Attaining margin and sales goals for the store is key. They must be able to think day-to-day and organically into the future, and serve as an advocate of our co-op principles.

This is a full-time, salaried position, based on a five day work week which includes one weekend day. We have an excellent benefits package including medical and dental insurance, paid vacation and sick time, retirement plan and employee discount.  

Founded in 1973, Weavers Way is a community-owned natural grocer with stores in Mt. Airy and Chestnut Hill. In addition to our stores, we run a market farm in the Awbury Arboretum, a CSA farm partnership with Saul High School, our own community newspaper, and a non-profit which emphasizes food and nutrition education. We operate based on a triple bottom line philosophy that considers our community and environment in all of our decisions.
