One of my managers has a new employee still in their trial period in their department and they are considering not taking them out of their trial period. The issue is the employee's attitude. The manager has related to me that the employee's attitude is as if he is better than his co-workers/too good to do the things he asked to do. The manager has also said that the other members of the department feel the same way and that uniformly they dislike working with this employee because of this. In essence this employee is poison to department morale. The manager and I will meet with this employee soon and I was wondering if there were any suggestions for language to use/not to use for a situation like this, where the termination is not due to specific policy violations, but due to bad attitude.
Any input will be greatly appreciated.
