Retaining Cashiers and Hiring Practices
Over the past year we have had a higher turn over rate in our FE department (Cashiers and Customer Service) than usual. I was wondering if anyone had similar experiences.
I also wanted to open this discussion to pool ideas as to how to retain quality employees and how to choose people with a greater chance for longevity. My two most recent resignations were due to someone moving for Americore an someone getting a job as a City planner (no indication of this interest in the interview). The two before that moved to another department that met their interests more.
I feel like communications have been clearer within the store and the department. I feel like the desired hours and schedules have been met for most of the employees here and people aren't leaving for that reason.
Any suggestions or similar stories?
